In order to optimally integrate new photovoltaic systems into the existing power grid, the current renewable energy law in Germany (EEG) has allowed grid operators to remotely and temporarily reduce the output of systems above 100 kWp since January 1, 2009. To do this, operators send a ripple control signal through the grid directly to the generator to reduce system output when necessary. To meet these requirements, Fronius has developed the Fronius Power Control Box.
