Mounting systems play a central role in the design and installation of photovoltaic generators. Such systems must hold the modules securely on the roof, be constructed from durable, long lasting materials, and be easy to install. The demands on mounting systems are as diverse as the myriad of roofs and modules upon which photovoltaic systems are built. Since January 1st, 2007 German Institute for Norms (DIN) 1055 standards have been changed to require an increased snow- and wind-load tolerance.
